'Percy House has a ticket to do what he wants to do,' Frank told jurors in closing arguments of Kuklinski's month-old trial. Prosecutors have let both witnesses off the hook in order to go after Kuklinski, Frank argued. They both have obvious motives to lie, he said. There is no direct evidence against Kuklinski beyond the testimony of Percy House, who has admitted involvement in the killings, and Barbara Depner, Daniel Depner's widow, who has since lived with House, Frank said. Kuklinski's lawyer said in his closing argument that his client is being framed for murder by the real culprit and by a woman lying to protect him, defense lawyer Neal Frank told jurors Monday. The defendant was nicknamed 'the Iceman' by investigators because of his alleged indifference to his victims and because he allegedly boasted of freezing the body of one victim for two years to disguise the time of death. Kuklinski could face the death penalty if convicted. Depner was allegedly killed in a similar manner two months later. Prosecutors allege that Kuklinski fed Smith a cyanide-laced hamburger in Decfember 1982, immobilizing the victim until Depner strangled Smith to finish him off.
